Second Life… and Death

27 Oct

I’ve been meaning to post this article on the blog for a while now. In the wake of all of our discussions about social networking (YouTube included), this seemed appropriate.

The focus of the article is “lurking.” We’ve all done it. Researching people we’ve met on Facebook, Twitter, whatever. (In fact, a fellow classmate found out we shared a mutual friend by “lurking” and finding a picture of me in someone else’s profile). But how do we discern between the life posted online and the life someone is actually living? What are the facts being presented to us online and what are the “in between details” we imagine to fill in the gaps? Who of our online friends do we actually know in the flesh-and-blood?

Hope you all enjoy.
